WHEN & WHERE TO HAVE YOUR SESSION
  • The best time for your session is somewhere in your third trimester when your belly will be nice and full.  However, you don't want to wait until the very last week. (yikes!) In the past it has been difficult to photograph a maternity session if the momma isn't pregnant anymore!  ;D
HUSBANDS
  • Spouses are encouraged to be involved in the session.  One of the most important things we can do to create beautiful maternity photographs is highlight your relationship.  I almost never photograph a 'smile at the camera' shot in a maternity session.  The timeless, elegant shots happen when the couple is being close to one another, in embrace or laughter, not cheesing at the camera.
CHILDREN
  • Children may be added to the session for $25.  These sessions will take a bit longer while your photographer works for the perfect shot with your squirmy wormy.
ALL COVERED UP | SOME SKIN | TASTEFUL NUDITY
  • Some moms are after just a 'light, fun mood' to the session.  Some moms want to show a more arty, intimate side.  Some moms want both!  When you speak with me to reserve your session it is important to discuss the types of photographs you like.  There is not a 'standard agenda' or pose list I check off for each maternity session.  The photographs are very personal and the session will be customized to your wishes.
  • Any nudity will not have a boudoir, or sexy feel to the photograph.  All personal parts will be concealed with shadow, posing, or fabrics for modesty.
WHAT TO WEAR
  • Bring a strapless bra if you have one!
  • You and hubby should both have black pants of some sort.
  • This is probably the ONLY session type where stripes are OK.  The point of the maternity session is to show off your curves.  Stripes are great at just that.  No other time do you want to show off your curves.
  • Solids still are best though.
  • Pre-maternity button-up shirts are great for letting your belly peak out.  The only button that actually needs to be buttoned is at the bust line.
  • Tight camis. Long maternity camis are great.
  • Non-maternity jeans the still fit you in the legs.
  • dresses and shirts with an empire waste (fabric gathers right under the bust line)
  • I have the wraps, though if you bring your favorite tube top, that's a bonus.
